Grew up in Seaham, studied Mathematics and Physics at Durham University.

Earned a PhD in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Manchester — focused on Monte Carlo simulations of QCD. Research I continued during a postdoc at the University of Edinburgh.

Moved into NLP via a postdoc at the University of Edinburgh, training efficient machine translation models for offline use.

Now at Meta on the Llama team. Worked on distillation for 1B and 3B Llama 3 models; currently focused on multilingual data.
